    Happy Thanksgiving

This holiday is about giving thanks to God for all the blessings that He has given us this year!

The Pilgrims and the Natives came together to celebrate and give thanks for all the bountiful harvest.

We live in a world that thinks Thanksgiving is all about the Turkey

Every good thing given and every perfect gift is from above!

    We are not entitled!

Even perfect gifts can be used wrongly

    Father of Lights

Realize this, the light from the Sun never fades, the world turns away.

With whom there is no variation

God never changes! He is the same yesterday, today and tomorrow

His light does not create a shadow. In His light, there is no darkness at all.

In His will, He brought us forth by the Word of truth

Salvation doesn’t come because we want it to come,

In fact, natural man would never seek salvation

It is by His will, through His Word, that salvation comes

    First fruits

The first fruits were an offering back to God for His blessings

As first fruits, our job is to glorify God by living for Him daily

This year, like every year, we have much to be thankful for indeed

Do you know the God of salvation?

Let this truly be your first Thanksgiving!

    A little history on Lamentations

Also called the Lamentations of Jeremiah

The Book of Lamentations is the collection of five poems or songs mourning the conquest of Jerusalem and the Kingdom of Judah.

The tone of the book of Jeremiah is very heavy as God’s Judgement had come

However, today’s text is Jeremiah remembering Hope in the hard times

    I recall hope

    The Lord’s Mercies

    His compassions never fail

    They are new every morning

    Great is Your faithfulness

    The Lord is my portion

    I Hope in Him

Wait for Him and seek Him

    Hope and wait quietly

Waiting is excruciating for today’s "2-day delivery" generation

However, if we take the time of waiting to examine and seek and spend time quietly listening to the Lord,

The pain of waiting will become joy in the Hope of Christ.

    From Dread To Joy
    Series: 2022

    Psalm 64:1-4 NASB

In this passage today David has approached God to basically complain about the wickedness all around him

As we go through this Psalm today, notice the similarities of our world today.

    Hear my voice O Lord!

Preserve my life from the dread of the enemy!

Hide me from the secret plots

    They attack suddenly

    Evil purpose

    They devise injustices

    Men’s hearts

    God’s arrow

    Suddenly

    They will stumble

    They will fear

    The righteous will be glad!

    The righteous will take refuge

    Dread will become Joy!

Do you know the God that can turn dread to joy?

    "Have this attitude"

    KJV
    "Let this mind"

    This is a choice

Jesus existed in the form of God

He didn’t cling to His Deity but embraced His humanity

In His humanity He became as a bond-servant

Remember, a bond-servant was one who chose to serve, even though they were free to choose not to

Being made in the likeness of men

He humbled Himself when He became obedient

Jesus humility was one of suffering

He served even when it was hard and humiliating

Today’s Christian needs to remember that humility is not weakness

Jesus humbled Himself as a man to be obedient to God

To show us exactly how we should serve God

Today we can serve in many ways even in our own church

Jesus humbled Himself and was obedient even to the point of death on the cross

He obediently suffered for the whole world to see

Are you willing to obediently serve God today that others may see Jesus?

    Who’s In The Mirror?
    Series: 2022

Toddlers under 18 months don’t often recognize themselves in the mirror

We notice things in the mirror

This passage is describing the mirror which is the Word of God

If we are doers of the Word, when we examine ourselves, we see the Word

When the world looks at self-proclaimed believers today, how many reflect the Word?

Do you see the Word when you look in the mirror, or something else?

Ever looked in a funhouse mirror? It is still you, but looks wierd

Perhaps a version of the Word, yet distorted

Perhaps you see something broken that needs repair

When things are broken, they are not able to function properly

Some people hate to look in the mirror, but do nothing to change that

The only way to see Jesus, when you look in that mirror, is to be that doer of the Word

This is what our world needs today, believers who do what they read in God’s Word

Only you have the option to change what you see in the mirror

Do you want to see Jesus?

    Jesus Calms The Storms
    Series: 2022

We live in a stormy time

I’ve heard it said that each of us is; either in a storm, coming out of a storm, or about to go into a storm every day.

With storms being on all our minds this week, I want us to remember something: Jesus Calms The Storms!
    Our text today is
    Let’s look at 35-39

    Jesus rebukes the storm

    Let US cross over

    Took Him how He was

    A storm arose

    He was asleep

    He was awakened

    He rebuked the storm

    Jesus rebuked His disciples

How is it that you have no faith

    The disciples were fearful

    Who can this be?

Jesus was fully man and fully God and the disciples just saw both

Are you locked in the storms of life?

    Do you need a savior?

Trust Jesus! He is the only One that can calm the storms!

    Bad Choices
    Series: 2022

We make many choices every day

    Some good and some bad

    Moses was given instructions

Sometimes choices are made because we have no guidance

Sometimes we choose to go against the guidance

Why would Moses, someone who saw God’s miracles, choose to go against God?

Why would we make that same choice?

Sometimes choices really have no consequence, but sometimes they have major consequences

Any choice to willfully go against God is a bad choice

Every bad choice has bad consequences

    Moses’ consequence

Even choices we make out of ignorance can be bad choices

It is our responsibility to be educated so we can make good choices

God will never steer us wrong!

Moses’ choice cost him the opportunity to enter into the promised land

    God did, however, forgive him

Our sinful choices today do cause us to bear the consequences on this earth

God’s grace, mercy and forgiveness still offers us an eternity in heaven

Do you have the assurance of that today?

Bible Study – Voices Of Jesus
    Series: 2022

    Introduction:
The Lord speaks to men today through the Word. He also speaks to the believer's heart by the Holy Spirit. We will take a brief look at some of the voices of Jesus as found in the Word.
    • I. The Shepherd's Voice -- Follow Me
        • A. The Sheep follow Him John 10:27
        • B. Follow Him and not walk in darkness John 8:12
            • 1. To follow Jesus expresses a union of the two, you and Christ 2. To follow Jesus shows that you are united or "hooked together" with Him 3. To follow Jesus is to go the same way as He goes
        • C. Follow Him and be a fisher of men Matt. 4:19
        • D. Follow Jesus and take up your Cross
            • 1. Die to the importance of self 2. Put the Lord first in your life every moment of every day 3. Make Christ the number #1 priority in your living; serving; and giving
    • II. The Master's Voice
        • A. Occupy till I Come Luke 19 :13
            • 1. here in Luke 19:13, it means "trade ye" or "gain your living" until He returns.
            • 2. Work, or do our daily tasks and jobs until He comes; work for the Lord till He comes again.
        • B. Jesus IS coming again in Glory
            • 1. We don't know when -- He is on HIS timetable
            • 2. Let's be ready for His coming; looking; working; serving; not giving up and not giving in.
    • III. The Savior's Voice
        • A. Come unto Me Matthew 11:28 This basically means to "come here and follow" it is a command of the Lord Jesus Christ.
        • B. We are to give our burdens to the Lord; Cast your care upon Him
        • C. To come to Jesus and follow Him brings rest
            • 1. rest here means "refreshment"
            • 2. the word "rest" as used here is NOT a rest from work but a REST IN WORK. This refers to the harmonious working of will; heart; imagination; conscience;
            • 3. As we work (labor) for the Lord, He will refresh us as we come and follow Him.
    • IV. The Teachers Voice
        • A. Learn of Me Matt. 11:29 let us be meek and lowly (humble) so that we can be teachable
        • B. Take His yoke upon you; this tells us that we should team up with Christ and submit to His authority.
        • C. We are to follow Christ's example I Peter 2:21-22
    • V. The Voice of the Bridegroom
        • A. The bridegroom has the Bride John 3:28-30
            • 1. the saved belong to the Lord
            • 2. we were bought with a price, the precious blood of Jesus Christ on the Cross of Calvary.
        • B. He (the Bridegroom-Jesus) must increase in our lives vs 29-30
            • 1. We need more of Christ and less of self in our lives
            • 2. We need more of what He wants for us and less of what we want for us
            • 3. When we give Jesus His rightful place in our lives, He blesses us more and more.
    • VI. The Voice of the Friend
        • A. I will sup with him Revelation 3:20 The word "sup" here means spiritual communion between Christ and you.
        • B. The True Friend knocks and offers help; encouragement and fellowship
        • C. Notice the context here:
            • 1. We have a local Church that has shut Christ out. They may have their traditions; pageantry; ceremonies; etc. but not Christ nor His power. Therefore, they are a powerless congregation just going through the motions of "religion."
            • 2. Jesus is knocking at the door of a local church and, as a "Friend", offers to come in "if" any man (just one person) will hear the Lord and open the door to the Lord.
            • 3. This shows the love; mercy; and grace of the Lord as well as His patience toward mankind.
    • VII. The Voice of the Physician
        • A. Christ makes one whole John 5:5-6
        • B. He heals the brokenhearted Luke 4:18
            • 1. sometimes we think of a physical healing; but there is the "spiritual healing" or the "mending" that is needed in a person's life after a heart - breaking experience.
            • 2. Let Christ heal you spiritually and do not dwell on the problems; give them to Christ by casting ALL of your care upon Him. I Peter 5:7
            • 3. Remember wounds take time to heal and Jesus, the Great Physician, heals broken hearts.
Conclusion: Continue to follow His voice. Read the Word and see what the Lord has for you. Allow your self to "Grow" spiritually. Learn and follow the Lord. Read the Word daily; pray daily; tell others what Jesus has done for you. Invite friends and relatives to become believers. Turn to Him in every aspect of your life and share with Him every problem and concern in your life. Make Him a part of your life on a daily basis.

    Knowledge Is Painful
    Series: 2022

I don’t mean that knowledge makes your head hurt

    Ignorance is bliss!

"I know best how to take care of me"

Solomon was the wisest man in the world

In all his exploration and wisdom, he found, that with man, everything is striving after the wind

Our own knowledge tells us without God it is impossible

It is painful for us to believe we can’t do it alone

As far back as Adam and Eve, man has sought knowledge

If we could go back, before all this knowledge, wouldn’t that be great?

The true knowledge comes from God

Are you ready to seek true knowledge?

God forgives, but blessings are lost

Believers today are wandering in the wilderness because of disobedience

God’s people were continually complaining against the very one that gave them freedom

Believers today, who are blessed beyond measure, do exactly the same thing

They could have had so much

    Where are we today?

    Do you fully trust God?
